According to reports from the Smithsonian Institute Global Volcanism Program and Guatemala’s National Institute of Seismology, Volcanology, Meteorology and Hydrology ( INSIVUMEH), both volcanoes have seen high effusive and explosive activity in early February, lofting volcanic ash and gas high into the atmosphere. Two volcanoes in Guatemala – Fuego and Pacaya - have recently shown signs of increased activity.
